A Senator’s Reward for Industrious Daughters

—Senator Sawyer, of Wisconsin, is both practical and affectionate. Calling his young daughters to him one morning, he asked them, as a testimony of their love for him, to learn to make their own clothes and to cook a good dinner. They promised, and not long after invited papa and mamma and a few friends to dine with them. They cooked the dainty dinner, and wore handsome dresses made by themselves. The Senator’s pleasure thereat took form in the shape of a $25,000 check to each.
