The Churches.

We have a cheering report from Santa Rosa since our labor there. We do not cease to pray that the Lord will help them to keep the light that they may let it shine before the world.

Things in Oakland and San Francisco are assuming a more satisfactory shape. We hope soon to be able to report a more healthy state of all the churches in California. Our future work depends upon this. Unless we have good illustrations of the power of the truth in the lives of its professors it will be vain to appeal to the world in its behalf. J. H. W.
