CHRIST actually meant prayer to be the great power with which his church should do its work, and the neglect of prayer is the great reason the church has not greater power over the masses in Christian and in heathen countries. Nothing but intense, believing prayer can meet the intense spirit of worldliness, of which complaint is everywhere made. Intercession is the most perfect form of prayer: it is the prayer Christ ever liveth to pray on his throne. God’s giving is inseparably connected with our asking.—
