The wife of a man who was recently arrested for burglary in a Western city affirmed that it was hunger that made her husband a burglar. This is one of many similar cases that are continually coming to notice. There is a sentiment growing, in many quarters, that it is proper for poor men out of work to rob the wealthy. This growing sentiment will doubtless do its part to produce the conditions that will fulfill the prophecy of James: “Come now, ye rich, weep and howl for your miseries that are coming upon you. Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are moth-eaten. Your gold and your silver are rusted; and their rust shall be for a testimony against you, and shall eat your flesh as fire. Ye have laid up your treasure in the last days.” James 5:1-3. The weeping and the howling of the rich will come as a result of the conditions that have been created by these times in which that prophecy applies.
