Dorcas and a Life of Service

THAT was a pathetic yet grand scene Peter beheld when he came where Dorcas was lying dead, and saw widows weeping, and showing the coats and garments she made for them when she was living. Are we devoting ourselves to ease and selfish enjoyment, or to toil and tears for those who need our help? Would it be said of us that the needy went empty-handed from our presence, or that we did what we could? G. B. T.
