Jews and the Gospel

BY F. C. GILBERT
Supt. Jewish Work in North America
THE needs for Jewish evangelism are great. There is a cry ascending from among the Jews themselves that something be done for them that will give spiritual help. One rabbi is quoted as saying that he had been with his flock fourteen years, and had not in all this time administered to them any spiritual help, although he had been abundantly supplied with temporal benefits by the people.
The rising generation of Jews realize that there is nothing in Jewry for them; and those who are spiritually inclined, seem willing to listen to the word of God, and to the truth concerning the Messiah.
There are now nearly three million Jews in this country, and the last gospel message must be given to them. Their hearts are made to rejoice as they learn that the Bible, after all, is not out of date even for them. Many of the truths which they have been brought up to believe, are anew made sacred to them as they realize that to accept the Messiah does not mean that any of the word of God must be thrown away.
God has given us a great open door, and we must step into it. The Bible truth regarding the Sabbath God gave man in Eden, and that also points out the Messiah who kept it, breaks down the prejudice of the Jew. Such a consistent religion, which does not throw away any portion of the sacred Book of the prophets, appeals to the Jew. He sees in this the pure gospel. And the seed of the kingdom is taking root in many a heart of the literal descendants of Abraham.

May God hasten the day when many more of these lost sheep of the house of Israel shall find their own Messiah, and be prepared to meet Him in peace at the hour of His return.
