A World Gone Mad

At this writing, Italy is just plunging into the great European war. What she will drag with her of the few small nations that are not actually in the strife, it is difficult to forecast. This leaves but very little of either Europe, Asia, or Africa at peace.
The United States has on her hands one of the most difficult diplomatic problems in dealing with Germany.
When we step aside from this actual war condition, we find England with difficulty holding down a strike that is liable to involve at least three million men. What amounts to a civil war is in progress in Portugal.
These terrible conditions of strife show the madness of the world. Is it any wonder that every little while editorial writers are repeating the statement, “It is a mad world, my masters”? When the Judgment day is pending, and the last great climax is just about reached, we read in the sacred Word that “the nations were angry.” We also read, in the same prophetic book, of the spirits of demons that would go to the kings of the earth and of the whole world to arouse them to the war of the great day of God Almighty—the great and final Armageddon.
The stage is already set for this awful work; the nations are in action; the climax cannot be far away.
