THE COWORKER AND THE NEW MAN

A SPEAKER was recently heard to say that God, who could make a man out of dust, was surely able to make a coworker with Himself out of a man. Of course this spokesman meant a converted man.
What he said is entirely true; but there is an antecedent to his statement more wonderful of contemplation than even this. Indeed, it seems a very small thing to take a real Christian, though nearly talentless, and qualify him for soul-saving service, as compared with the act of taking one altogether sunk in sin's degradation, and making of him a new man. Yet this is the necessary foretaste of power to be experienced in every instance in which God ever works through Christ. For this reason, the earnest invitation is extended to all, even the very lowest, “Come unto Me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” All this, too, is without any human consideration. “Come . . . without money and without price,” is the gracious offer. Wondrous condescension! How miraculous is the power of the word of our God! J. O. C.
