Down from the Sky

EARTHWARD from the shining courts of heaven, Christ shall come with pure angelic band, Saints shall be ransomed from the grave’s dark prison, And borne aloft by fair immortal hands;
Upward to where the stream of life is flowing, Where the streets of gold their feet shall press, Where the bloom of countless summers flowing, Wreathes all the land in untold loveliness; Where the eyes shall shine with wondrous brightness, And the broken heart for ay be healed, And the dazzling throne appear in whiteness, Where Jehovah is Himself revealed.
All the sin and wo and grief and heartache That has gathered for six thousand years, All the partings, longings, tears, and heartbreak, Will be banished when the Lord appears.
And so we say with joy: “Our journey’s ending. ’Tis but a little way to heaven and home.” We see the signs that tell of Christ descending, And pray in faith, “Lord Jesus, quickly come.”
L. D. SANTEE.
