The Earth Lightened with Glory

By Eliza H. Morton

By Eliza H. Morton
O, let Thy candle, Lord, upon me shine! I long to see, 'mid darkness, light divine. Preserve, O Lord, Thy servant, day by day, And let me humbly walk with Thee, I pray!
Thy glory is a candle o'er my head. Thy word has power to resurrect the dead. O, let that Word abide within my heart,— My sun, my shield, of life a part!
Light Thou my candle, Lord, with sparks of love. My spirit yearns for power from above. When every candle shines that Thou hast given, Then earth will lightened be with light from heaven.
