Perpetuity of the Law and the Sabbath

Questions Answered by Bible Tests

1. What is the character of the law of God?
“The law of the Lord is perfect.” Ps. 19:7.
“The law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good.” Rom. 7:12.
2. What is sin?
“Sin is the transgression of the law.” 1 John 3:4.
3. For what did Jesus come into the world?
“To save sinners.” 1 Tim. 1:15.
“He shall save His people from their sins.” Matt. 1:21.
4. Have all sinned?
“All have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” Rom. 3:23.
5. Do we make the law void through faith?
“God forbid; yea, we establish the law.” Rom. 3:31.
6. How long will the law of God continue to be binding upon man?
“All Thy commandments are truth. . . . Thou hast founded them forever.” Ps. 119:151, 152. See also Matt. 5:17, 18.
7. What is the gospel?
“It is the power of God [almighty power] unto salvation to every one that believeth.” Rom. 1:16.
NOTE.—It is salvation from sin, or the transgression of the law of ten commandments. See James 2:8-11. It is useless to preach the gospel without the law; for where there is no law, there is no sin from which to be saved.
8. Upon whom is the law binding?
“What things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.” Rom. 3:19.
NOTE.—Every Gentile has a mouth to stop. Therefore everything the law says, is binding upon him. It says, “The seventh day is the Sabbath”; therefore he is under a divine command to keep the Sabbath.
9. Is the Sabbath Jewish?
“The seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord thy God.” Ex. 20:10. “The Sabbath was made [at creation] for man,” that is, all mankind. Mark 2:27. “Thou . . . madest known unto them [the Jews at Sinai] Thy holy Sabbath.” Neh. 9:13, 14.
