Thou art near, O LORD; and all thy commandments are truth.
The verse belongs to a psalm that exalts God's law. It declares that God is near. It declares that all His commandments are truth, His holy law given to govern the human beings He created. His Word sets forth the principles of righteousness and clearly defines right and wrong and truth and error, and His law is to be the rule of life. The truth communicated through His Word reaches the mind and is necessary for sanctification and perfect love.
Bold and defiant wickedness that insults His holy commandments and changes His laws causes cruelty that makes life intolerable. In spite of the continual increase of that defiance, God bears long in very great forbearance and restrains His own power and omnipotence. While so forbearing He gives continual light to the obedient, but He will certainly interfere and arise to punish the wicked.
