Calamity and Death

On one page of a daily of July 14 we have the following: electric trains crashing, in Los Angeles, 14 dead, 150 hurt, 20 seriously, said to be the result of a practical joke; in New York City boats upset during a squall and 10 drowned; and in Boston a sloop upset and eight drowned. We suppose the superstitions will lay it to the 13th day of the month.
