Our lesson lies wholly within the book of Job, beginning with chapter 20 and closing with chapter 37. Some of these passages are of marvelous beauty. Take, for instance, chapter 26, of the exaltation of God as the Creator of the heavens, the stretching out of the starry firmament, garnished or beautified by His Holy Spirit; chapter 28, a panegyric on wisdom. In chapter 31 we are brought to the close of the argument between Job and his friends, when Elihu, a younger man, steps in, and thinks that his superior wisdom will correct Job. He follows in about the same line as the others, and no answer is made him.

We conclude the book of Job in the first two days, presenting before us God's lessons to His impatient and afflicted servant, in which He shows, by referring to the commonest things about Job, how little he knows, how great is God's power, and the resultant lesson,—that Job ought to trust in Him, whatever might come. We have also the restoration of Job's prosperity because of his faithfulness and devotion to principles of right and faith in God.
The following five days are readings in Proverbs, carrying us to the fifteenth chapter. These were written by King Solomon, about one thousand years before Christ. They are filled with very practical and needed instruction for all phases of life. Some of the business aphorisms, or precepts, are intensely helpful in every-day life to those who will use them.
