Is It Practical?

WHAT is the Bible good for if it is not practical? What is the Christian religion good for if it will not do what it promises?
It is not God’s design that His Book should be considered a bundle of facts, but a great body of related and interrelated truths. It is not His purpose that men should use these truths to establish theories or to crystallize them into formal creeds; but God’s truths—really one truth—should be received as warm, living, character-molding principles, creating new men and women in Christ Jesus.
God’s Book is not composed of dead words, limited by the human agent through whom they came; but “the Word of God is living, and active, and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing even to the dividing of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and quick to discern the thoughts and intents of the heart.” Heb. 4:12. So make it your own, and let it work out in you God’s character.
