Our Guardian Angel

By Delwin Rees Buckner
We have a guardian angel at our side To keep us from the thorns that strew our way, And to protect us hourly, night and day, When we are buffeted and sorely tried. He knows the many bitter cups of gall That we have had to taste down here below; He knows the frequent times we mortals go Astray; how many times we slip and fall. Within his hand he holds a record book, Where evil acts in red are underlined. More faithfully he writes our every deed Than we ourselves could do; each thought, each look, Deep-hidden in the heart, or in the mind, Our angel guardian can always read.
