An Awful Weapon

Among the last weapons which men are seeking for the destruction of human life, is electrical energy. It is stated in a despatch from Berlin, April 23, that the Krupps, the great gun makers of Germany, have circulated a private and confidential offer to well-known scientific experts for an invention which shall project electrical energy to such a distance as to explode balloons and magazines in warships. Some think that this will be the next development of warfare. Should such a thing succeed, it would mean the destruction, at one stroke, of the world's aerial and marine Dreadnoughts.
