A Noted Statesman Assassinated.

Prince Ito, one of the leading Japanese statesmen, was assassinated at Harbin, Manchuria, October 26 by a Korean who said, “I came to Harbin for the sole purpose of assassinating Prince Ito to avenge my country.” The seeming reason for it was the strict regime which Ito carried out while in charge of Korea. One report states that he had caused to be executed the brother of the one who assassinated him. It is said that his death will have a great effect in moderating Japanese affairs in Manchuria.
