The Sure Word of Prophecy

FROM Tiber’s banks the Roman legions came, Destructive as the locusts of the plain. That march like armies through the golden grain And turn it unto ashes, like the flame. The cry of mourning pierced the pall of doom; In sackcloth lay besieged Jerusalem, Erstwhile a queen, with jewelled diadem, Now brought unto the boundaries of the tomb. Most certain are God’s holy prophecies. What He predicts most surely He fulfils. When Time’s true hour-glass marks the fateful hour; As fell the city of the Maccabees, So, too, will fall that of the Seven Hills, When all Earth trembles at Jehovah’s power. DELWIN REES BUCKNER.
