Praise the Lord

By Llewellyn A. Morrison
We come with gladness and the voice of praise To Christ our Master and our King; We laud His favor and extol His ways, Rejoicing in the joys they bring. The Holy Spirit is our unseen Guide, The promised One who dwells within— Our Holy Comforter, whate’er betide, The Cleanser of our guilt and sin.

CHORUS

Praise the Word! Praise the Lord! Let it ring over sea and shore. Praise the Word! Praise the Lord! Sing praises to Him evermore.
Our lips are voicing in a jubilee The glory of His grace in song— They sing the sweetness of a soul set free From evil, impotence and wrong; They tell the treasure, which in love awaits The ransomed ones by faith made pure; They whisper softly of the pearly gates For them who in His name endure.
We come with reverence before His face; The greatness of His work abides; Our hearts are open and in them we trace The tenderness, wherein He hides; There is no bondage in His service, dear— No shadow-land without a sun; The Lord abideth with His people here; We follow till the day is done.
