Heat Wave Claims Many Victims

The heat wave which swept over the eastern portion of the United States the week following June 22 claimed a number of victims in the cities. In New York City the fatalities numbered more than fifty by June 25, on which day ten died from the heat. As usual, the children of the crowded tenement districts are the chief sufferers. Hospitals were crowded with patients, and the physicians were unable to care for all of them.
