What Would the Authorities Do?

In various parts of the United States and Canada men have been prosecuted, generally at the instigation of professed Christians, for working on Sunday and observing the Sabbath of the Lord. When Jesus Christ was upon earth, He did the same thing. He rested the seventh day; He wrought the first day. If He were here now, He would do the same; for He is “the same yesterday, to-day, and forever.” What would the authorities do?—Logically, they would be forced to prosecute Him. But are they not doing that very thing now when they prosecute even the least disciple who follows Him? These are important questions. “Inasmuch,” He says, “as ye have done it unto one of the least of these My brethren, ye have done it unto Me.”
