Liberty and Its Author

God is the Author of liberty. When He took His chosen people from Egypt, He ordained liberty for them by arranging their institutions in such a way as to guarantee it. He authorized them to “proclaim liberty throughout all the land unto all the inhabitants thereof.”—Lev. 25:10. Then when His Son Jesus Christ came to earth on His mission of salvation, His assurance to mankind was, and that assurance still holds good: “If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.”
