George T. Angell and Animal Kindness

It is sad to record the death of Mr. George T. Angell, of Our Dumb Animals, Boston; and yet one could hardly expect Mr. Angell to live forever in his active life. He was eighty-six years old when he died, March 16. A clear-headed, able lawyer, Mr. Angell dedicated his whole life to inculcating and promoting kindness to animals. His little paper was sent to every newspaper in the United States. The little book “Black Beauty,” practically dead on the market, he gave a circulation of more than a half million. If there were human knowledge, gratitude, and ability among the brutes, we are sure they would raise a monument to his memory.
