Obligations of Church Membership

HE who intelligently becomes a church-member takes upon himself the obligations of a member of Christ’s body. He is not, so far as his own motive and purpose go, there to be pitied, or coddled, or lifted over hard places. He is there to help, to lift, to bear burdens, to fight as many of his own battles as he can, to gather strength from Christ to help others. He is to give all and find his greatest blessings and returns in the service he renders. A church composed of such members will be a living, growing, united church.
