The Twofold Witness of Truth

The hope of the world is in the religion of Jesus Christ. The revelation of that religion is, first of all, in the word of God, the Bible; and, secondly, in the individual life in harmony with the written revelation. This is a twofold witness to the soul upon which it can rest. To place the evidence of truth in man's conviction alone is to leave him to the sport of every vagary and whim. But there is where the higher critics of our time are leaving the world.
