California Legislature and Sunday Laws

The “California Christian Advocate” remarked two weeks ago, “We scarcely think that the Legislature seriously considers the activity of the Seventh-day Adventists.” This in regard to the Sunday law. It is entirely immaterial to Seventh-day Adventists as to how their activity is regarded. They are not presenting themselves in anything that they have done against religious legislation. Their one object is to show the evil principles that are potent in these seemingly harmless Sunday-law measures. We are glad that the Legislature of California has considered these. The Assembly has turned down the Sunday Constitutional Amendment by a very decisive vote of 50 to 24. The Sunday-law bill is yet before the Legislature, but it can hardly be believed that the Legislature will pass a measure of that kind if they refuse to submit the amendment. We devoutly thank the great Ruler of nations that there are those still who hold right principles regarding religious liberty.
