Prosperity.

Since the election, business matters have settled down to something more like stability, and news comes from various parts of the country that there will be work for idle hands to do. It is said that $240,000,000 will be spent on railroad equipment in the next year or so. This, of course, will reach steel industries, railroad shops, and other trades. Mr. W. C. Brown, vice-president of the New York Central, is reported as saying that railroad supplies were ordered the morning after election aggregating $31,000,000 for the New York Central alone.
The National Association of Manufacturers declares that one half of its three thousand members will reengage an aggregate of two hundred thousand workmen. And another estimate is that there will be thirteen thousand manufacturers who will put to work at least 650,000 men. Pittsburg has work for many thousands; Baldwin Locomotive Works expects to put back 19,000 men within a year. All this is encouraging, and it ought to mean earnest work for those who are engaged in winning and saving souls, and scattering Gospel seed.
