Going to Bed.

SOME children go to bed at night With happy hearts and faces bright, Content to lay their playthings by Till morning’s sun lights up the sky. They smile, altho their mama said: “Come, dears, ’tis time to go to bed— ’Tis time to say good night.” And mama by and by steals nigh, With shaded lamp to where they lie. In softest, sweetest tones she says, As kneeling by the bed she prays: “Lord, keep them safe and pure and bright, For many and many a morning’s light; Amen; amen.” “Good night.” — Selected.
