THINGS TO KEEP.

THE Lord has committed to His church and children some important, priceless things to keep, and their present and eternal salvation depends upon keeping faithfully and conscientiously all He has committed to their charge. Let us take a brief survey of some of the rich gifts He has placed in our keeping.
1. “Blessed are they that hear the Word of God, and keep it.” Luke 11:28.
2. “Endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.” Eph. 4:3.
3. “Keep thyself pure.” 1 Tim. 5:22.
4. “Keep . . . unspotted from the world.” James 1:27.
5. “Keep yourselves from idols.” 1 John 5:21.
6. “Keep yourselves in the love of God.” Jude 21.
7. “If thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.” Matt. 19:17. “And hereby we do know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments.” 1 John 2:3. “By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep His commandments.” 1 John 5:2. “This is the love of God, that we keep His commandments.” Verse 3. “Here are they that keep the commandments of God.” Rev. 14:12.
8. “Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein; for the time is at hand.” Rev. 1:3.
If we have faithfully kept the things above enumerated, as enjoined and committed to our trust, we will at last be able to say with the apostle Paul, “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.” And then at the appearing of the Lord Jesus we will receive a crown of righteousness, of life, of glory, which will never fade away. Great are the blessings in keeping; greater are the blessings for keeping. H. A. ST. JOHN.
