INEXCUSABLE FOLLY.

Denominational, but not Christian.

Infidel, but not Manly.

A WIFE in Brownstown, N. J., has lately died who had not spoken to her husband for twenty-three years, nor had he spoken to her. They have lived together all this time. They quarreled a few years after marriage over religion. She was a Methodist, he an atheist. She said she would never speak to him until he believed in God; and he would never speak to her until she believed there was no God, and for twenty-three years they kept the vow. Their means of communication was novel. She told him what she wanted and what she thought of him through her prayers, which he overheard, and when he needed to communicate with her, he talked to the cat.—Universalist Leader.
