Necrology

Two noted newspaper correspondents have recently passed away: January 18, Henri Georges Stephane Adolphe Blowitz, for many years correspondent of the London Times in Paris, in his 71st year. He was admired and feared by ruler, statesman, and diplomat. He received from the Times $50,000 a year. In this country it was a young man, aged nearly 50, Julian Ralph, of New York, who died January 20. He was a prolific magazine writer and author of several books. Abram S. Hewitt, former member of Congress, and mayor of New York, a well-known national character, died January 18, at the age of 80.
