A Trust Decision.

Some two years ago a combination of salt manufacturers and dealers was organized to control the salt business west of the Mississippi. At the time of the organization salt was selling at $3.00 a ton; but through the organization of the trust and its manipulation of the business the price of salt has been arbitrarily forced up as high as $25 a ton. This manipulation of the price and the almost absolute control of the business led to an investigation by the United States District Attorney resulting on November 10 in a decision by Judge Morrow of the United States Circuit Court enjoining the salt trust from continuing its business. This decision declares the salt trust to be an illegal combination in restraint of trade.
