At one of the schools the parents are supporting the children in their action. On the following day 4,500 Chicago teachers applied for membership in the Federation of Labor, hoping thereby to bring the power of the 200,000 union men of Chicago to their support in any demands which they may choose to make. With the teachers of the public schools belonging to the union, how long will it be before the public schools will be effectually closed to the children of non-union parents?
