Cardinal Gotti’s Life and Career

Cardinal Gotti is sixty-eight years old. His father was a dock laborer. His mother helped him to study at a Jesuit College. When sixteen he became a member of the order of the Carmelites. After graduation he taught theology and also mathematics in the naval school at Genoa. Many of his pupils now command vessels in the Italian navy. . . . He . . . is a distinguished orator, speaking French perfectly, and Latin with as much grace as Leo XIII.—Christian Advocate.
