Volcanic Eruption at Torishima

The island of Torishima, off the coast of the largest island of Japan, was overwhelmed by a volcanic eruption between August 13 and 15, and all the 150 inhabitants were killed. The island is covered with volcanic debris, and all the houses on it have disappeared. The eruption is still in progress, accompanied with submarine eruptions in the vicinity, which make it dangerous for vessels to approach the island.
