Rival Elijahs

Rival Elijahs.—A correspondent sends us a paper called the “Everlasting Gospel,” and wishes to know what we think of it. It is a good name. It says some good things, sadly mixed with error.” For any paper, any message, which makes salvation contingent upon the acceptance of some individual’s claim as God’s prophet or messenger, is not of God. We see no more reason why we should believe F. W. Sanford to be Elijah and the Restorer (as he claims) than we should Alexander Dowie. Both claim the same thing with about the same arguments and evidences. Sometime the rivals will come in conflict. He who is giving God’s message will give God all the glory.
