GETHSEMANE AGAIN.

We have a Counselor who has been admitted to the bar,—the bar of the universal Judge; but let us not forget that He once stood at Pilate’s bar, accused as a traitor against the government of earth. He holdeth in His right hand the seven stars; but that hand retains the print of earth’s cruel nails. Out of His mouth goeth a sharp sword; but these lips were first silent in Joseph’s tomb. This is the Man that has shown us the way to heaven. Forget not, beloved, that it is by Gethsemane’s shadow and the cross. The world is entering again Gethsemane; multitudes with swords and lanterns and staves; many to slumber or betray, a few to watch with their Lord.
