A.; 4,060 officers and 31,988 children in the primary association, about 20,000 belonging to the religious classes of the church, the total of those belonging to the auxiliary associations reaching 264,204. Of the 20,000 farms owned by Latter-day Saints, Apostle Clawson said that 18,000 are absolutely free from debt. He closed by telling of the increase in the Methodist, Congregational, and Presbyterian churches of the United States in 1897, which, out of a total membership of 4,000,000 amounted to 50,000. The Latter-day Saints, he said, in that year numbered a little over 250,000, and their increase was 20,000 souls.”
