TO OUR SUBSCRIBERS.

FOR years, owing to the request of a few eastern subscribers, the SIGNS OF THE TIMES has closed its forms and gone to press two weeks ahead of its date. When this plan was adopted, it took mail twice as long to cross the continent as now. Reasons that seemed obvious then, no longer exist.
Therefore, that we may give to our readers later news, the numbers of the coming volume of the SIGNS will be published not to exceed a week from the respective dates they bear, unless in the case of specials. To do this we must omit one week, but no paper. That is, there will be no paper issued the third week in December. No. 52 will bear date December 25, 1901; No. 1 of the next volume, January 1, 1902; but our subscribers will receive No. 52 nearly if not quite two weeks before receiving No. 1 of the next volume. There will be no paper lost; you will get each number a week later, that is all.
