Ancient Mining in Nome

MINERS working in the Nome district of Alaska have found evidences of mining done at a much earlier date. Stone cofferdams and bedrock drains show that the work was carried on in an intelligent manner, probably by Russians. The fact that these were covered with earth shows that the work must have been done many years ago.
