British and Turkish Tensions at Koweit

British cruisers are concentrating in the Persian Gulf, and it is believed that trouble between England and Turkey is brewing at Koweit. Edhem Pasha, with 30,000 Turkish troops, is at Bassorah, near the Persian Gulf, with the apparent intention of seizing Koweit. A Turkish vessel which was preparing to land 500 troops at that place, was intercepted by a British cruiser on September 24, and the commander of the Turkish vessel informed that he could not land the men. The Turk persisted, and the English vessel cleared for action. The Turks then withdrew and reported the matter to the sultan.
