Reconciling Capital and Labor

One of the sad things in the capital-and-labor strife is that both parties to the controversy are drawing apart, and the sensational press is helping this on. “How Shall Capital and Labor be Reconciled?” is a great flaming headline in a large daily paper not long ago, the whole tendency of whose teachings since the strike has been to engender hatred between the parties at variance. It ought to have asked this question in the beginning. Let the question of both parties be, How may an honorable peace be effected, to the advantage of both parties and the humiliation of neither? Let each put himself in the other's place. Let them, if they can not be Christians, at least be reasonable men.
