The Independent tells us that on the death-bed of ex-prime minister of Italy, Francisco Crispi, who died August 11, “efforts were made to persuade him to accept the ‘dying offices of the church, but he refused, saying it was a matter between him and Christ.” Surely he could have no better or mightier friend.
