FORMATION BETTER THAN REFORMATION.

The only thoroughly reliable temperance people are those who have been such from their youth. We rejoice that thousands of drunkards have been reformed, and have stood firmly in the new life, and yet how many who bade fair to do so have fallen. It is perhaps physically and morally impossible that all tendencies to the recurrence of any evil habit shall be so thoroughly eradicated that he who has once been a victim of an evil practise shall be as whole as tho he had never sinned in that respect.
Here comes in the ounce of prevention, which is worth the pound of cure. Parents, teachers, and guardians will do far better work in forming the young aright in total abstinence habits than in depending on reforming them when any shall have become victims of strong drink.—American Issue.
