What Money Will Purchase.
—Money will purchase fine clothes, beautiful houses, luxuriant surroundings, dainty food, expensive dinners, costly wines, rare jewels, painting and bric-a-brac, elegant yachts, private cars, fast and fine horses, servility and mock homage, and more money to purchase more things. But money can not purchase sweet sleep, good digestion, happy homes, clear consciences, true affection, the favor of God, or life eternal. And yet all these things are open and free in Christ Jesus to all who will follow His way: “If any man will come after Me,” says the Master, “let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; and whosoever will lose his life for My sake shall find it. For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?”
