Pan-American Exposition Opens in Buffalo

THE Pan-American Exposition at Buffalo, N. Y., formally opened its doors to the public on May 20. The opening was preceded by a parade, in which persons from nearly every country in the world took part, and ended with an aerial bombardment from flying bombs and a brilliant electric illumination. One of the features of the opening was the flight of 10,000 homing pigeons. Suddenly released from captivity, the pigeons arose in a great cloud, circling round and round thru the towers of the buildings. Then breaking away, they soon disappeared to all points of the compass, bearing their messages announcing the dedication of the exposition.
