AS HE PASSES BY.

Jesus of Nazareth passeth by! And thousands wait on the gentle Lord; And the sick and the sad raise a joyful cry, For healing lies in His lightest word; And hearts have never a need to sigh When Jesus, the Son of man, goes by.
Jesus of Nazareth, Son of God, Still passes on earth before our sight; And the smile that He sheds on His old abode Is the beauty of day and the peace of night; And to whoso welcomes His whisperings He showeth many and wonderful things.
Jesus of Nazareth passeth by And knocks at each temple leased to sin; And with grief He seeketh to purify, That the Holy Presence may dwell therein. And from souls thus cleansed the shadows fly, And a song bursts forth as He passes by.
Would'st thou see Jesus of Nazareth? Would'st have thy sight and thy faith restored? Then lift thy gaze from the ways of death, For it's only to look to see the Lord; And the love that was proven on Calvary Shall touch thy heart as it passes by.
