Standard Oil’s Enormous Dividends

The Standard Oil Company has declared another dividend of $20,000,000. This is a quarterly dividend. Last year the company paid in dividends the enormous sum of $48,000,000. The dividends paid in 1899 amounted to $33,000,000, and in 1898 they amounted to $30,000,000. With the payment of the dividend now declared, the company will have paid to its stockholders since 1895 more than twice the amount of the capital stock.
