The Standard Is the Word

The Standard Is the Word.—All else must be measured by that. If we will, we may in this life measure by it our motives and acts, and walk in its harmony. If we do this the Word will be in the last day a blessed witness to our fitness for the better life. If we refuse to so measure by it, if we reject the standard, that same Word will meet us in the judgment and condemn us for all eternity. God will not do this for revenge or as an arbitrary punishment, but because such condemnation is the operation of essential truth.
